Carrie Underwood at the American Country Awards
Country crooner Carrie Underwood showed off her toned gams in a strapless, above-the-knee frock as she walked the red carpet for the American Country Awards at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Monday. The songstress was up for Artist of the Year: Female and a trio of other honors at the ceremony. But whether she wins or loses, the real question is ... what do you think of that dress?
THE CLEVERLYS RELEASING HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM DECEMBER 13TH ON STABBIN’ CABIN RECORDS
The ubiquitous question of “Where can I get music from these guys,” is here. The Cleverlys are releasing their debut album on December 13th. Hailing from the Ozarks, the 'family' band consisting of Digger, Miles, Vernon “VD” Dean, Harvey D and cousin Otto are a one-of-a-kind bluegrass group who uses comedy mixed with pop and amazing musicianship to put on a performance you will never forget.
“If you caught these spoofing yokels at CMA Music Fest last summer, you’re probably already grinning. Yes, it’s the Black Eyed Peas song done with hillbilly drawl and bluegrass instrumentation. On their eponymous debut CD, The Cleverlys do the same with The Bangles’ “Walk Like an Egyptian,” Bill Withers’ “Ain’t No Sunshine” and, unforgettably, Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” Plus, you get originals like “Girl with No Pantyline.” The rube spoken-word passages are as riotous as the ditties are. Essential.” Music Row – Bob Oermann
Recorded at Stabbin' Cabin Records home grown studio in the heart of the Ozarks, the atmosphere of their native land blows right through the collection that includes covers of songs like you’ve never heard including “I Gotta Feelin’”, “Angel”, “Billionaire”, “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)”, “Walk Like an Egyptian”, “Born to Be with You” and “In the Pines/Ain’t No Sunshine”. You’ll be able to listen to their original music and comedy tracks titled, “Eye of the Cage”, “Girl with No Pantyline”, “Wheel Hoss”, “Intro the trio” and “Tennicles”.
Within a year of hitting the road, this family has sure garnered quite a following from coast-to-coast and around the globe. With over 1 million views on YouTube, thousands of fans on Facebook and rave reviews from USA TODAY, YAHOO! Music and THE LA TIMES, their highly anticipated album is finally here. ALABAMA TO RECEIVE “GREATEST HITS” AWARD AND PERFORM ON “AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS”
Legendary country music group Alabama has been tapped to receive the Greatest Hits Award at the AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS, airing live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Monday, Dec. 5 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. The veteran band, which gave its farewell tour in 2003, also will perform during the broadcast. Additionally, AMERICAN IDOL winner Scotty McCreery has been added to the list of performers for the two-hour primetime special.
The AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS Greatest Hits Award is presented to a country music act that has produced an extensive catalogue of No. 1 hits throughout its career.
As one of country music’s classic groups, Alabama has enjoyed more than 30 years of unprecedented success in the music industry. Consisting of Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook, the group has released 21 Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum albums, and 43 No. 1 singles. Other accolades include eight country music "Entertainer of the Year" honors, two Grammys, two People's Choice Awards and their very own star on the "Hollywood Walk of Fame."
Alabama first signed with industry giant RCA back in 1980. The group immediately began taking the country genre in new directions, reaching out to an incredibly diverse fan base, many of whom had never listened to country music. The band's upbringing on country, gospel, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, rock-n-roll and southern rock enabled them to perform everything from Acuff to ZZ Top. Their career sales have topped 73 million records, ranking them as one of the 10 biggest-selling bands in the annals of popular music – ahead of such rock legends as Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Queen, Pink Floyd and The Who. Additionally, Alabama has more No. 1 records than any band in country music history and has sold more concert tickets than any other country group.
The second annual AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS, hosted by Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth, is the only country music awards show that gives fans the opportunity to vote for their favorite artists not only in traditional categories but also in previously unrecognized areas of the business such as touring, encompassing the entire spectrum of country music and bestowing honors that no other awards show has. Co-hosts Trace Adkins and Kristin Chenoweth, along with country music’s Blake Shelton, Pistol Annies, Thompson Square, Eli Young Band and The Band Perry are set to perform. The special will also include appearances by Josh Turner, Jordin Sparks, The Big Show, The JaneDear Girls, Bill Engvall, Larry Mahan and Rodney Carrington. Previously announced participants include Lauren Alaina, Rachel Bilson, Miranda Lambert, Scotty McCreery and the men of “Pawn Stars” (Richard Harrison, Rick Harrison, Corey Harrison and Austin Russell).
AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS is executive-produced by Bob Bain (TEEN CHOICE 2011, “Kids’ Choice Awards”). Fletcher Foster, Paul Flattery and Tisha Fein serve as producers; and Greg Sills is supervising producer. Michael Dempsey will direct the special.

MADISON RISING TO 'OCCUPY WALL STREET' ALBUM MUSICIANS: 'Try Showing Some Gratitude to Your Country'
Madison Rising, the unabashedly pro-American rock band that just released its debut album, today called on Jackson Browne, Third Eye Blind, Crosby & Nash, Devo, and Lucinda Williams - who are planning to join Michael Moore and the ear-splitting Zuccotti Park drummers in creating a "benefit" album to raise millions of dollars to further the Occupy Wall Street protests - to "try showing some gratitude to their country."
Madison Rising released a powerful single last week entitled "Honk if You Want Peace," lambasting the Occupy Wall Street protesters for being "tie-dyed slobs" and self-righteous obstructionists.
"Although we have enormous respect for the musical abilities of Mr. Browne and the other musicians planning to contribute to the Occupy Wall Street album, we have to question why artists so readily assemble to bash America whenever the opportunity arises," asked Madison Rising lead vocalist David Bray, a military veteran. "Occupy Wall Street is not a movement; it is a bunch of spiteful kids who will probably end up occupying the very same office towers they are now protesting if and when they ever grow up. America is facing a lot of challenges right now; why don't these musicians and Mr. Moore find a way to do something constructive, instead of continually inciting hatred and divisiveness."
Madison Rising brings great rock music back into the forefront of popular culture. With songs ranging from the lyrically powerful and guitar heavy opening track "Right To Bear," to the hauntingly epic sounds of "Honk If You Want Peace," to the beautiful violins and cello of "Hallowed Ground," it is clear that this band is on a mission not only to make great music, but to send a message that American culture is alive and well. All ten tracks were mixed by legendary music producer Ron Saint Germain, who has worked on 18 Grammy-nominated projects, including 12 Grammy winners. His projects have resulted in more than 60 gold and platinum records and more than 250 million unit sales.

Nashville Baseball Ballpark Evaluation Study Narrows Sites to Three
Mayor Karl Dean today released a baseball stadium site evaluation study that narrows potential locations for a new minor-league ballpark in Nashville to three: the East Bank of the Cumberland River, Sulphur Dell located near Germantown and the North Gulch area north of Charlotte Avenue.
The study by sports consulting firm Populous describes the three sites as “exciting options” for a new ballpark. The study calls the East Bank the site “that can produce impact on a grand scale.” It also says that development there “creates a new front door to downtown Nashville.”
The study says a ballpark in the North Gulch could build on the energy of ongoing Gulch development and could act as a gateway from West Nashville on Charlotte Avenue. The Sulphur Dell site, the historic location of professional baseball in Nashville, would be an opportunity to tie into two greenway systems and could boost development along Jefferson Street, the report says.
“All three sites present unique opportunities to enhance our city in different ways,” Dean said.
“Both the North Gulch and the Sulphur Dell locations would build on the growth and reinvestment of important urban neighborhoods. I am especially intrigued by the East Bank site because it offers opportunity for more than just a baseball stadium. It could be the catalyst for a complete transformation of one of the last undeveloped, highly visible sections of our city’s skyline.”
The report notes that the trend in most cities for financing a minor-league baseball stadium is through a public-private partnership.
“This study is the first step in a long process,” Dean said. “We are still a long way from a financing structure and an agreement with the Nashville Sounds. As the report points out, next steps include market and financial feasibility studies and further study of property acquisition. Additionally, there has to be a significant financial contribution by the Sounds.”
The former Thermal Transfer Plant near Riverfront Park, the Opryland/Music Valley area, the North Gulch south of Charlotte Avenue and the East Bank north of the Jefferson Street Bridge were also studied, as was renovating Greer Stadium. Greer has been home to minor-league baseball in Nashville since 1978.
